Muffin Break Baker's Challenge
After knocking-out close to 100 competitors from across Australia to make it to the Grand Final 'Bake-off' of the round-robin competition, the four finalists were in the running to be named 2011 Muffin Break Bakers' Challenge Champion are: Vannesa O'Conner - Muffin Break Townsville Stockland, QLD During the Grand Final event, the four bakers bake-off before a panel of expert judges who assessed the finalists on their general baking skills and baking knowledge, as well as their kitchen-cleanliness and food-safety skills. Each baker had only 15 minutes to bake and present three traditional muffin flavours Choc Chip, Blueberry and Apple Cinnamon. All four contenders like all Muffin Break bakers have been rising early at 4.00am daily to develop their technique while baking Muffin Break's variety of flavours fresh in-store. As well as the glory of claiming the national title, the winner of the 2011 Muffin Break Bakers' Challenge will receive a $2,000 Visa Gift Card to add to the $500 cash-prize each finalist has already received as his / her reward for making it to the Grand Final. Muffin Break DFO Moorabin NOW OPENED!The smell of freshly baked muffins will drift though the DOF Moorabin in Cheltenham, Victoria with a brand new Muffin Break opened its doors on Sunday 9th October 2011.In celebration of the opening of the store John and Nicole hosted the official opening ceremony on the 21st October with the Centre Manager and the much sought after Muffin Break Muffin Man with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Grand-Opening store-celebration were jam-packed with amusements and 'freebies' in the form of balloons, stickers and temporary tattoos for kids.

Muffin Break Mackay Caneland NOW OPENED!On the 13th of October the new Mackay Caneland Central Shopping Centre opened with a brand new Muffin Break. Muffin Break Canelands Mackay now holds the record of the biggest store opening in customer count in Muffin Break history. There were a line 50 metres long full of fantastic and excitable customers. It was the first store to open in the Food Court at 7am! On the first day alone they went through 12kg of coffee (which is almost 1000 cups of coffee), 40kg of muffins (on the average day a MB store will go through about 15kg a day). There were almost 2,000 customers for the first four days. Deputy Mayor, Darryl Camilleri official opened the store on Thursday, 20th of October with the famous Muffin Man along with Philip Martin and Claire Torkington from the Centre Management.

Each year, the very best of this supremely talented group take part in the exciting and highly anticipated 2011 Foodco Barista Competition which recognises quality and excellence in coffee preparation and service. The judging criteria included preparation of machinery/workstation, technical skills of barista, sensory evaluation of coffee, presentation of coffee and coffee knowledge.
